Our relationship with Chichester Workshop

Today we were at a search in Chichester and we went via Chichester Workshops to collect a vehicle on the way back to the Base.  We visit the workshops from time to time and I make reference to the visits in my Twitter updates so I thought I’d tell you a bit more about them. We have a great working relationship with the workshops and they do so much to help us and keep us on the road.

You can see parts of the workshops and meet Terry Crocker the workshop manager in the attached video. (They do lots of technical stuff in the workshop but I had to edit out some confidential content in the video clip so you don’t see the full extent):

Terry and his Team look after our fleet of vehicles and make sure we stay operational at all times.  As you can imagine we have some odd police vehicles including the dive lorry, the box trailers and the boat trailers in addition to the search van and Landrover.  Terry is so organised and helpful and he and his staff always go out of their way to assist us when we need it.

One year we were searching in a river in Wiltshire in the ice and snow for a body following a murder - it was so cold.  Our dive lorry was out of action but Terry managed to get it fixed and one of his team members delivered it to us.  We have never been so pleased to see it back as getting undressed out of wet kit in a hire van and being without hot food and drinks wasn’t a nice experience.  We don’t take Terry and all the Team at Chichester workshops for granted and we rely on them heavily, they do a great job.
